Biography

Cenk Uygur (born March 21, 1970) is a Turkish-American progressive political commentator, journalist, and media entrepreneur. He is the founder, CEO, and host of The Young Turks (TYT) — the largest online news show in the world, with over 25 billion total video views and 500 million monthly views across its network.

Uygur launched The Young Turks as a talk show on Sirius Satellite Radio in 2002 and became YouTube's first-ever partner channel in 2006. TYT is now the longest-running daily online news show. He graduated from the Wharton School of Business at University of Pennsylvania and from Columbia Law School, working as an attorney before his media career.

In December 2016, Uygur co-founded Justice Democrats alongside Kyle Kulinski, Saikat Chakrabarti, and Zack Exley — a PAC dedicated to electing progressive candidates who refuse corporate PAC money. Justice Democrats was instrumental in launching the political careers of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib, and others.

Uygur briefly hosted a show on MSNBC in 2011 and was named #25 in Mediaite's Most Influential in Media list. He is the best-selling author of "Justice is Coming: How Progressives Are Going to Take Over the Country and America Is Going to Love It."
