In Sam’s substack post ” A Portrait of Delusion: he predicts Biden stepping aside. He wrote this post on July 6th and Biden ended up stepping aside by July 21st. Sam wasn’t the first to recommend Biden step aside. Ezra Klein was arguing for this back in February of 2024. He released an audio on op-ed with the New York Times.

Cenk Uygur was arguing for Biden to step aside back on the Fall of 2023. He ran for president with the hope of getting others to jump into the race.

Many democrats scolded those who were criticizing Biden. It’s interesting to note how once the consensus shifted, it was alright and accepted to criticize him. Dean Phillips was running for president in the Fall and he claims he was blacklisted. He claims he was unable to get any interviews with on more democrat leaning networks in the same manner that Republican candidates such as Chris Christie and Vivek Ramaswamy were able to. https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2024/01/12/dean-phillips-msnbc-joe-biden-00135134

Sam excoriated Biden in his substack. He noted how Biden claimed Trump was “shouting” at him during the debate, when in fact Trump wasn’t shouting. He highlights how Biden wanted us to know he’s been counted out all his life, but he’s no quitter. And even if he loses to Trump in November- and on his account, hands our democracy to a man intent upon destroying it – the most important thing is that he gave it his all and did the “goodest” job he could. It’s remarkable that criticizing Biden was so frowned upon until after the debate. It gives a glimpse into something that is dysfunctional within the democratic party. As much as we can appreciate Sam’s feedback in his substack post, we should ask if he was questioning Biden’s ability before the debate? If so, when and where did Sam question Biden’s ability?
