The Edward Snowden Controversy

Who is Edward Snowden?
Edward Snowden is a former contractor for the United States National Security Agency (NSA). In 2013, he leaked thousands of secret government documents to journalists, revealing how the U.S. government was collecting massive amounts of information from people’s phone calls, emails, and online activity.

What Did Snowden Reveal?
- The NSA was collecting information from millions of ordinary people—including people who were not suspected of any crime.
- This collection included phone records, emails, chat messages, and even people’s internet searches.
- U.S. allies, like Germany and France, were also being spied on.
Why is This Controversial?
Some People Call Him a Hero

Others Call Him a Traitor
